Mrs. Conley was brought to the Greenup County Jail. A coroner's inquest was held immediately, and the jury reported in its verdict that Conley came to his death "at the hands of an insane person."
County authorities learned of the shooting early today and went to the scene. Deputy Sheriff George Crisp said he found Mrs. Conley's place of concealment after a lengthy search.
Conley was fatally wounded when his wife fired the full charge of a twelve-gauge shotgun into his abdomen, authorities allege. Mrs. Conley had been ill for several months, but her condition was not believed dangerous. She is the mother of five children.
Mrs. Conley will be given a sanity hearing tomorrow morning before County Judge R. C. Carson. She would not discuss the shooting late today in the jail.
