Virginia Nalder Morris passed away at the age of 84. She was the fifth child of Charles Evans Nalder and Irene Robinson Nalder. Her first three siblings died in infancy. She began her education at 5 and for several years attended class in a one-room school at Midas, Nev., while her father was the foreman of the Ellison ranches. She graduated from Davis High School in Utah at the age of 16. Her father previously served two terms as the sheriff of Davis County.
She married and was later sealed to Robert D. Morris. Together they pioneered the microscopic gold development in northern Nevada, introducing Newmont Mining Co. to the area in the late 50s. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including primary president, stake camp director, and relief society president. Her passion was scouting and she spent over 40 years in the program. She received her Silver Beaver in 1986. She was a member of VFW and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Lee Erwin of Springville, Utah, Patricia Bailey-Cooper, Bakersfield, Calif, and Jeanie Harris (George) of Springville, Utah, sons, Robert Donald Morris II (Christine) of Provo, Utah and James C. Morris (Claire) of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by Katherine Laxalt.
