Phillip Wimberly Harriss, son of O. D. and Augusta Harriss, died August 1, aged 9 years, 8 months, and 4 days. After one short week of intolerable suffering, on Tuesday morning at the dawning of the day his beloved spirit plumed itself for flight to the city of the living God; the dear, sweet pansy; blue eyes closed on all earthly things to see no more in this life the face of mama he loved so well. The cries of "Phillip, darling," from the agonized mother and father fell on unheeding ears.

Dear friends, let us set our faces more steadfastly toward Jerusalem. Our treasures are there; sweet white hands are beckoning us on the other shore; the dear one that wanted to learn to sing "There's Sunshine in My Soul Today" is singing the song of the Lamb, just and true are thy ways, thou King of Saints.

Good-bye, Phillip, good-bye darling;
How we miss you every where ----
The vacant chair and silent places
That you brightened with your songs
Sweetest music was thy songs
To our hearts, for we were glad
Glad with joy for our boys
Who played with love beneath the shade
These aching hearts will always mourn
These empty arms will no more hold
That precious first born, darling.
All thy playthings, gathered careful,
And the school books that was loved--
Oh, my Phillip, Oh my darling,
Can I, can I, say farewell.
