Rebecca Jane is the daughter of Allen Ledbetter and Mary Springer. She used both Ledbetter and Springer for a last name. After her father's death she went by Springer.

Rebecca Jane married John David Burris in 1890. They lived in Stanly county. As far as can be seen they had no children. (The 1900 census indicates no children in the first 9 years of marriage.)

Rebecca was admitted to the asylum between 1900 and 1910.

I have received the following from Carolyn Owens: Rebecca Jane Burris--She was married to John David Burris October 2, 1890 in Stanly County, North Carolina by W.E. Furr, Justice of the Peace. Her parents were unmarried. Father was Allen Ledbetter and Mary Springer. She used both Ledbetter and Springer for a last name. After her father died she went by Springer. Source of information is Stanly County Marriage Book provided to me by Barbara Bullins, Burris Family Historian.

The following guidance came from Richard Crotwell: Rebecca J. Ledbetter (Springer) was the daughter of Allan A. Ledbetter and Mary Ann Tucker of Montgomery County, NC. Mary Ann Tucker, the daughter o Lewis Tucker and wife Martha Patsy Whitley, married Aaron Springer on 8 Sep 1859 in Stanly County, NC. Aaron Springer and wife Mary Ann (Tucker) Springer divorced.
