Lillie is the last wife of Christopher Columbus Burgin. His first wife, Alice Goodson, had died in 1902, leaving him with 3 sons and 3 daughters between the ages of 4 and 17. He next married Lula Curtis in 1903 and she died before 1915, leaving him with another son and daughter. Lillie marred Lum on 21 Jan 1915 and they had one son, Johnson Leonard Burgin, in 1919. Lum died 10 years later in Jan 1929.
Lillie was admitted to the asylum three months after his death and remained there until her death almost 8 years later of chronic myocarditis, chronic pyelonephritis and a large ovarian cyst. Her son, Johnson, moved in with Lillie's sister, Ella and her husband, Enoch Reel.
Frank Burgin, Lillie's stepson, also died while hospitalized at the asylum in 1966, but is buried elsewhere.
