Mrs. Grace Stephens, 75, South Bend, a native of Wabash County, died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Stephens had been in failing health for two weeks.
Born Feb. 18, 1885, near LaFontaine, she was the daughter of John and Marilla (Scott) Brane. Mrs. Stephens, a member of the EUB Church, moved to South Bend 35 years ago. She is survived by the husband Pearl Stephens, three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Marie) Schields, Chicago, Mrs. Fred (Irene) Blain and Mrs. Irvin (Martha Jean) Stephens, both of South Bend, one son, Dalton, Dowagiac, Michigan, two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Hockett, Indianapolis, Mrs. Nellis Hadley, Kokomo, four brothers, Clyde Brane, Glendive, Mont, George Brane, Washington, D.C., Charlie Brane, Marion and Ralph Brane, LaFontaine R.R. 2, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren,. One daugher, Georgia, preceded her in death.
Grace M. Brane Stephens is buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Indiana with her husband, Pearl M. Stephens.

Mrs. Grace M. Stephens, 1040 Van Buren St., died at 12:40 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after a two-wwek illness. She was born in LaFontaine, Ind., on Feb. 18, 1885, and had lived in South Bend 35 years, coming here from LaFontaine. As Grace Brane she was married to Pearl M. Stephens on June 14, 1903, In LaFontaine. Survining are her husband; a son, Dalton of Dowagiac; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Schild of Chicago, Mrs. Marth Jean Sephens and Mrs. Irene Blain, both of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Clyde Brane of Seattle Wash., Charles Brane of Marian, George Barne of Washington, D.C. and Ralph Brane of LaFontaine, and two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Hackett of Indianapolis and Mrs. Nellie Hadley of Kokomo. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Orvis Funeral Home where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. William Simpson, pastor of Central Evangelical United Brethren Chruch, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Mrs. Stephsns was a member of the church.

STEPHENS - Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Orvis Funeral Home for Mrs. Grace M. Stephens, 1040 Van Buren St., who died Tuesday. Rev. William Simpson, pastor of the Central Evangelical United Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Mrs. Stephens grandsons will be pallbearers. They are James McElheny, Rodney and Richard Blain, Robert Swanson, Robert Goss and Glenn Hankins.
