Marjorie Dell Durnell Turner passed away April 16, 2023 in La Porte, Texas. She is survived by three children, Debbie Grant of Deer Park, Texas, Connie Lynne Grant of Lakewood, Colorado and Michael (Stacy) Turner of Jacksonville, Florida. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Emily (Zach) Swanson, Mackenzie Turner, Samantha Turner and two great grandchildren, Zayden Swanson and Ryker Swanson. She is predeceased by her husband, Sidney Daniel Turner, Sr.

Dell was born at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Beaumont, Texas December 3,1940 to Johnie Parks Durnell and Noma Payne Durnell. She grew up in Baytown, Texas where she graduated from Robert E. Lee Senior High School. After graduation, she married her first husband and moved to Houston, Texas. She graduated from the Harris County Sheriff's Department in 1971 and worked as a police officer for Southside Place P.D., where she lived for several years. She was also employed at West University Place P.D. and Bellaire P.D. before becoming a guard at Atlantic Richfield Oil Refinery in Pasadena, Texas. Sometime later she became a full- time housewife and moved to Pasadena, Texas where she would spend the remaining 43 years of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for them and making holidays special. She also enjoyed reading, watching the Astros and relaxing in her backyard watching the wildlife. She will be greatly missed by her family.
