"Daniel moved with his father to Kentucky when he was about 14 years old and there in 1824 he married Ruhanah Hughes, the daughter of Ishmael Hughes and Susanne Kincheloe who also came to Kentucky from Virginia. Daniel migrated to Illinois in the fall of 1823. When Daniel arrived in Wabash Township he entered 40 acres of land (entered at Olney, Illinois in 1828) and lived the rest of his life in Wabash Township. At his death, March 11, 1873, he left 40 acres of land to each of his children in addition to money and property to the value of $25,000. Daniel donated land for the Thompson Cemetery where so many Thompson and Lewis ancestors are buried" (Blanche Liffick Morton, "Liffick & Lewis Family History," 1960, pp. 42-46).
