C. Lawsen Corlew, 84, of Butler, PA, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 in Mars, PA.

Lawsen was born May 10, 1923 in Essex, MO, the son of Clarence and Kitty (McCartney) Corlew. He married Shirley Henderson on December 31, 1953 in Salisbury, MO. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2004.

Lawsen served his country in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1946. He retired from the State of Illinois where he had worked as an engineer. He was a member of the Northenders VFW Post # 10302, serving on their honor guard for over ten years before moving to Pennsylvania.

Lawsen was also preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.

Surviving Lawsen are his son, Randall L. (wife, Leslie) Corlew of Butler, PA; his daughter, Rebecca S. Wingfield of Bates City, MO; and his three grandsons, Joshua Wingfield, Matthew Corlew and Nicholas Corlew.

Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703.

Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating.

Graveside ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Salisbury City Cemetery in Salisbury, MO.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northenders VFW Post #10302, 2349 Stockyard Road, Springfield, IL 62702.
