US Congressman. From 1885 to 1887, he was surveyor of Fulton County, Indiana, and director of Indiana State Prison in 1893. In 1908 he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative Abram L. Brick. He was reelected to the Sixty-first Congress and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1919.

Gravesite Details

He was originally buried in the Rochester Mausoleum, but it was torn down in the 1970's and he was moved to Section 15, Row 8.
