Kathleen Mae was born near Guthrie Center on April 11, 1941 to Richard and Agnes French. She lived on the family farm until graduating from high school.

Kathleen married Delbert Christensen in 1959. Kathleen and Del traveled the country together and even lived in Germany for one year while Del was serving in the military. Three children were born of this marriage: Karen, Brian, and Craig. As the family moved around southwest Iowa, Kathleen always ensured wherever they were felt like home. She was a selfless person that always put the needs of others in front of her own.

Kathleen married Meryl Whetstone in 1980 and her fourth child was born, Eldon. This family also lived several places over the years but Kathleen continued doing what she did best, raising her young son and being a steadfast support to her older children as they embarked on their adult lives.

After Meryl's death, Kathleen found love again and married Duane Hull in March 2011. They shared time between his house in northeast Iowa and Kathleen's home in Stuart. No matter the distance Kathleen always prioritized spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Wherever her children and their families' lives took them over the years, Kathleen always emphasized the importance of family and spending time together whenever possible. A holiday, birthday, graduation, or anytime in between was never celebrated alone and Kathleen was always orchestrating. While never wanting to be the center of attention, her commitment to family ensured her kids and grandkids felt privileged to spend so many memorable moments with her.

Kathleen's passions in life included family, flowers, gardening, and crafts. You couldn't visit her house without a mandatory tour of her flowers and the tomatoes she was growing. Back in the day of 24 count film rolls, at least 12 of Kathleen's pictures would be of her roses, lilies, and tulips.

Kathleen is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Dale) Grove, brother Stewart (Mary) French, three sons (Brian, Craig, and Eldon) and their wives (Jeri, Meribah, and Adrienne), and fifteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Karen, and her granddaughter, Gwendolyn.

Her family takes comfort knowing that Mom, Karen, and Grandma are reunited again and have been sharing stories and strolling heaven's gardens together ever since.
