***Roy Talbott Fling was born in 1921 in Commerce, Texas, his father, Henry, was 47 and his mother, Tommie, was 40. He married Margaret Cloud on April 24, 1942, in Maricopa, Arizona. He died on September 9, 1944. Roy Fling joined the Regular Army as an aviation cadet in Dallas, Texas on September 27, 1941. He attended college for 4 years before he joined the Army.

On a mission on September 9, 1944, they spotted an enemy convoy west of Hulst. According to the MACR, Capt Fling's plane was last seen in the vicinity of the position of the target. The report also holds a document of the German authorities who found the crashed plane in Etten-Leur, without the pilot on board. It is almost certain that Capt Fling bailed out, but where he bailed out (above land or water) is not known and he remains missing in action.
