ADAMS -- Alva C. Viste, 96, of Adams died on March 12, 2008 at Adams Health Care Center.

She was born July 21, 1911 in Alden Township, Hardin County, Iowa to Frank and Pauline (Thompson) Lane. Alva attended school at Plymouth, Iowa. She was married to Frank Faust in McKeesport, Penn. and then later divorced. She moved to Adams, Minn., in 1945. Alva worked as a waitress at the Pine Room and also cleaned houses for many Adams area families. She was married to Clarence O. Viste in February of 1962.

She was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA and the women's circles. Alva was also a member of the Adams Post #146 American Legion Auxiliary, the Adams Health Care Center Auxiliary and the Friendly Garden Club.

Alva was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the flowers and produce from her efforts with friends and neighbors. She loved spending time with her family and was an excellent cook and baker. She was well known in the area for "Alva's famous potato salad" and her oatmeal cakes.

Alva is survived by her daughter, Donna Osmundson, Adams; grandchildren, Jennifer Osmundson and Richard Kashiwabara, Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii; Jeffrey and Lisa Osmundson, Woodbury, Minn.; Heather and Lorenzo Davis, Jr., Woodbury, Minn.; great-grandsons, Joshua Osmundson, Zachary Osmundson, Lorenzo Davis, III; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen Lane, Oak Harbor, Wash., Forrest Lane, Vero Beach, Fla., Dean (Arlene) Lane, San Diego, Calif.; Betty Lane, Manly, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Viste; sisters, Florence and Thora; brother, Maurice; and son-in-law Jerry Osmundson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church with the Reverend Shari Mason Officiating. The organist will be Pat Hinz with soloist will be June Wolf. Interment will be in the Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at Little Cedar Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
