QUINCY - Herman Clair Curtis, 85 of Qunicy, formerly of Oblong, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Clair, as most people knew him, was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Oblong and was the only child of Roy Ray Curtis and Ruby Fern (Smith) Curtis.

He was a self-employed contractor with windows, siding and insulation. Clair was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a staff sergeant with the 8th Bomber Group. He was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post 219 and United Travel Insurance, and was a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed fishing.

Clair is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Gary Tenbusch of Springfield; two grandchildren, Mark and Audrey Tenbusch of Loami and Michelle and Brian Kelley of Athens; and five great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In accordance with Clair's wishes, his body will be cremated after the service and buried in Oblong Cemetery at a later date.
