• SULPHUR -- Graveside services for Chester L. Patton, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lowrance Family Cemetery with the Rev. Thom Balmer officiating.

Patton was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Olpe, Kan., to Dr. Chester L. and Ollie Barkley Patton. He died Jan. 7, 2002, at his residence.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and had a career as an Army officer, attaining the rank of Lt. Col. He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam wars. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with an affiliation of more than 50 years. He married Eleanor Lowrance in 1944 and they co-managed a duplicate bridge club in Sulphur almost 30 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann.

Survivors include his wife of more than 57 years, of the home; a son, Chester II, Sunnyvale, Calif.; and a sister, Margaret Spencer, Emporia, Kan.

Bearers will be Fred Shipman, Darell Carter, James Jack, Tim Colbert, Bob Howe, Miles Blevins, Jack Penner, Jerry Riddle, Sam Underwood, Doug Cowley, Paul Thompson and Dr. Max Swartz.

Cowley-Krien Funeral Home will direct services.
