The eighth child of J.D. & Zilla Cox, was always called "Babe", grew up on the family farm southeast of Princeton and attended the Victor and Calvert schools, graduated from Princeton High School on 19 May, 1921 and taught a year as a County School Teacher. Married Pat Lewis 15 April 1922. She was a homemaker for the next 20 years giving birth to 6 children. Worked beside her husband from 1936-42 in the Service Station and Grocery Store in Indianola, Iowa. Became an Avon Representative and received many rewards for her efforts. Upon retirement, she became involved in many areas of community life including the Cookeville, TN General Hospital Aux. At the time of her death she had volunteered over 2,135 hours of service.
