Mary Alice Rice Messer, 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She loved to play the piano for singing groups and all day singings.

She met the love of her life at a singing and they were later married. She played for Christ for the Crisis television ministry for many years. She loved to travel, and crochet lap throws for the elderly. She was employed by The People's Bank and Trust Co. in Tupelo and she was a member and financial secretary at Asbury United Methodist Church in Memphis. Mary Alice enjoyed her time and fellowship at Traceway.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 2:00 p. m. at Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Dean Warren officiating. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her niece and nephew, William Larry Rice (Judy) of Savannah, TN and Billie Jean Stewart (Otis) of Tupelo, MS; one great-niece; one great-nephew; four great-great-nephews; host of family and friends in Memphis, Tupelo and the Friendship community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther E. and Lucile Stephens Rice; husband, Thomas Lamar Messer; brother, Billy Rice and a sister, Laverne Rice.
