Rita Rexrode Leonard Bailey, age 89, passed away on April 18, 2014 at her home. She was born in Cleveland, Virginia to the late E.J. and Callie Rexrode but spent most of her life in Bristol, Tennessee.

Rita was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years Bob J. Leonard, her second husband of 14 years Harry H. Bailey, and five brothers: Charles, Elmer, Richard, Jim, and Bill Rexrode.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Leonard Tye and husband Paul of Texarkana, Texas; Bobby Leonard and wife Donna of The Woodlands, Texas; and Karen Leonard Witcher and husband Tom of Bristol, TN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Keller Davis and husband Jay of Texarkana, Dr. Gray Keller and wife Dixie of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Tye Blahnik and husband Kevin of Batavia, IL, Keith Leonard, Brown Leonard, Ian Leonard and wife Allison, Jonathan Leonard, and Callie Leonard, all of Houston, TX, Martha Witcher Abrams and husband Preston and Reid Witcher and fiancée Alexa Cassell, all of Nashville, TN, her six great grandchildren, Lauren and Kathryn Davis, Scarlett Leonard, Julia, Rachel, and Grant Blahnik. Rita is also survived by her sister, Marguerite Malcolm and husband Bill of Bristol, VA, many nieces and nephews, and her loving friend and caregiver Rhonda "Wendy" Dickey.

Rita was a member of Northstar Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday School at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Her family and friends knew that God was first in her life. She was a true prayer warrior and encourager of faith in the lives of others. She was a loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A celebration of Rita's life will be held Monday, April 21, 2014, at 12 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Old Jonesborough Rd, Bristol, Tenn., with Dr. Gray Keller conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Randall Morton, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will conduct a private burial service.
