Richard West and his family were residents of Greeneville, TN. In 1836 Richard West was elected to serve as an alderman for the town of Greeneville along with Andrew Johnson, later to become the 17th President of the United States. After Richard West died at the age of 45 his wife moved to Rome, GA to live with her eldest son.
