He was born July 07, 1942 in Ashland, the loving son of the late Earl L. and Violet (Quick) Helwig.
Ronald was a proud veteran Paratrooper of the U.S. Army serving with 101st Airborne, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company.
He was a member and Head Quartermaster of the 506th Airborne Association, 101st Airborne Association, and Middletown American Legion Post 594.
Ronald enjoyed hunting, boating, woodworking, the military, and looking into his ancestry.
His greatest love was his family and attending events in which his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter: Tammy Helwig.
He is survived by his wife: Ruth Ann (Motovich) Helwig; his daughter: Kimberly (Brian) Boal of York Springs; his son: Ronald Lamar (Veronica) Helwig II of Hershey; his granddaughters: April Helwig, Zoe Bell, and Kelsi Helwig; his grandsons: Cody Lamar (Morgan) Helwig, Hunter Boal, and Logan Boal; his great-granddaughter: Kayleigh Helwig; his great-grandson: Layton Lamar Helwig; and, his sister: Peggy Ann Ginnovan of Mechanicsburg.
There will be a Viewing from 03:30 - 05:30 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 in Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Incorporated, 260 E. Main Street, Middletown. A Celebration of Life will begin at 05:30 PM with the Rev. Britt Strohecker officiating.
Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11:30 AM.
