Reidsville -- Beulah Roberts Shumate, 90, formerly of 117 Brooks Road, passed away, Saturday, Oct 2, 2004, at her son's home in Eden, 216 Belford Drive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 5, 2004, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and the burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Shumate was born in Rockingham County to the late Martin Elcanie and Jettie Taylor Roberts. She was retired from the dietary department at Annie Penn Hospital. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Shumate; her granddaughter, Kimberly Carol Shumate; her brothers, Martin Gordon and Burke Roberts; and her sister, Eva B. Phillips.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence Elton Shumate and wife, Lois of Eden; grandchildren, Dana Bowling and Cathy Hundley; great-grandchildren, Ronnie Hundley, Ashley Hundley, Travis Jones and Jade Bowling; brother, Elcanie Roberts; sister, Jewel Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Other times they will be at the residence of her son, 216 Bedford Drive in Eden.
