Dan was born March 1, 1935, in Midland, Michigan, son of the late Duane and Betty Jean Craig. On October 13, 1954, Dan married his love, Beverly. Dan proudly graduated from Michigan State University and was an avid fan the rest of his life. Dan and Beverly lived a very happy life in Freeland, MI, having 5 children and 11 grandchildren during their 49 years of marriage. He spent his life surrounded by family and was very active in the Freeland Community. He held many roles during his time in Freeland, he was a teacher, athletic director, coach, and mentor at Freeland Community Schools. His true passion was with the track and cross-country teams, he coached many athletes in the community and enjoyed watching them succeed in all aspects of life. When you he wasn't at the track or another sporting event, he could be found traveling with his wife Beverly and camping with his family where he enjoyed spending time on the boat the "Salty Dog" and playing cards with his grandkids.
After unexpectedly losing his wife Beverly, Dan remarried in 2005.
Dan shared their time between Freeland, Michigan and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for their 17 years of marriage. Dan enjoyed spending time traveling, going to the casino, and going on cruises. His love for cross-country never stopped, while in Kitty Hawk Dan found himself assisting the cross-country team at First Flight High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Craig, his parents Duane and Betty Jean Craig, his in-laws Jay and Shirley Ross, his sisters Sharon Walsh and Patricia Schroeder, his son David Craig, and stepdaughter Sarah Ruhl.
