After an illness of about six months, Mr. Ira Cox passed on to his final reward on Friday night, December 3rd at 11 0’clock at his residence in Whigham. Mr. Cox was born in what is now Grady County, December 8, 1884, and spent his entire life in this section. For several years he had made his home in Whigham and was well-known here. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons: J.C. Cox of Miami, Maglothan[sic] Cox, of Cairo, and Master A.J. Cox, of Whigham; and two daughters: Mrs. Robert Brown, of Miami, and Miss Frances Cox, of Whigham. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. N.G. Christopher, with internment Saturday afternoon at three o’clock in Bold Springs cemetery, in charge of South Georgia Funeral Home.
