K. C. Barnes, 85, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at his residence in Walnut. He was born September 13, 1922 to the late Lummie and Willie Wilbanks Barnes. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic and farmer. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a POW.

Services were Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Community Pentecostal Church with Rev. Gary Porterfield, Rev. Clay Hall and Rev. J. C. Hall officiating. Burial in Providence Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Patterson (Jimmy) of Walnut and Kay Henderson of Corinth; two sons, Billy Barnes (Sally) of Walnut and Roger Barnes of Walnut; six sisters, Emma Wilbanks, Ruby Aldridge (Henry), Edith Hamm, Jean Talley, all of Walnut, Elenor Mathis of Tupelo and Lovie Cross of Falkner; nine grandchildren, Shane Barnes, Dwayne Porterfield, Anna Rogers, Michael Porterfield, Ashley Carlisle, Brittany Carlisle, all of Walnut, Tammy Gentry, Melissa McMeans (Jay), both of Corinth, and Lisa Barnes of Imperial, MO; and six great-grandchildren, Lia Rogers, Sydney Rogers and Jordon Rogers, all of Walnut and Dalton McMeans, Kaylee McMeans and Tristin McMeans all of Corinth.

Pallbearers will be Billy Shane Barnes, Dewayne Porterfield, Greg Hamm, Wesley Barnes, Grady Watson and Bobby Joe Talley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry Aldridge and Kerry King. He was preceded in death by his wife, Birdie Mae Null Barnes; one son, Kenneth Wayne Barnes; his parents, Lummie and Willie Wilbanks Barnes.
