Husband of Amelia F Black. Father of Sallie, Robert L, Samuel W, Lula & Lizzie Black. In 1880 they lived in Ridge, Fayette Co., Alabama. He was a farmer.


Francis Marion Black Pvt. Enlisted October 3, 1861. Wounded at South Mountain on September 14, 1862. Captured at Gettysburg July 1-3, 1863 and held Fort Delaware until released on June 14, 1865 and listed his residence as Fayette County, Alabama. Resided in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas after the war and provided deposition for Thomas A. Welch in April, 1907 at age 68.
