Michael grew up in Detroit Michigan in the 1960s and attended Resurrection Catholic grade school. In the early 1970's our family moved out to the country where he graduated from Richmond High School in 1976. Right out of high school he joined the United States Navy. In 1982 he received an Honorable discharge. He worked as an Electronic Technician for several years but he missed the navy so much so in 1989 he became a Navy Recruiter the retired in 1996. He traveled the world during his Navy career on the JFK aircraft carrier. He was very passionate about his Navy career and his Catholic upbringing.
Michael was currently studying Religion/Theology at St Leo University and only had three more classes to complete to receive his bachelor's degree. Michael loved walking the beach, going to Jim Brickman concerts, watching wrestling with his son Nicholas and going to NHL hockey games with him. He loved to read books, watch old reruns on tv, and conversing with his Facebook friends.
He is survived by his two sons Nicholas Chomiak (Sara), and Matthew, his loving sisters, Denise Chomiak-Russo (Jim Sheehan) and Sandy Francis (Ron), Grandchildren April and Alexander Chomiak, niece Shannon Hyso (Zack), his Uncle Frank Vande Voorde and his former wife and forever friend Donna Chomiak.
He was predeceased by his parents Gordie and Marilyn in 1969 and 1970. Grandparent's Alexander and Catherine Chomiak & Johnnie Bob and Lola McClung, and his dear sweet Aunt Christine Vande Voorde who raised him after the death of his parents, who he absolutely adored.
