Funeral services for Mr. Dennis G. Rhodes will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 in Creel Memorial Chapel, Reeves with Reverends Kenneth Ardoin and Glenn Ducharme officiating. Interment will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder.

Mr. Rhodes, 80, of Reeves passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rhodes served his country as a veteran of World War II aboard the USS Lexington and in the Korean War as a United States Marine. Mr. Rhodes was awarded the Purple Heart Medal serving in the Korean War. Mr. Rhodes lived in Hoopeston, Illinois and was employed by the Eastern Illinois Power Cooperative for thirty years. After his retirement in 1982, Dennis and his wife, Virginia resided in Reeves. He was a member of the National Shoot To Retrieve Field Trial Association, The Gulf Coast Texas Bird Dog Association, The Marine Corp League and Reeves Bible Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Virginia M. Rhodes; his father and mother, Printz and Anna Rhodes and his brother, Donald J. Rhodes. Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Michael Dennis Rhodes and his wife, Mary Beth of Rossville, Illinois and David Alan Rhodes and his wife, Beckie of Reeves; three grandchildren, Kyle G. Rhodes and his wife, Brooke of Lake Charles, Kayla Goodaker and her husband, Thomas of Lake Charles and Mia Ellen Rhodes of Rossville, Illinois and five great grandchildren, Tyler, Colby, Aidan and Jackson Rhodes and Gracie Goodaker.
