PELHAM — Jason Thomas Collie, Sr. 99, Pelham, N.C., died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Ruffin United Methodist Church by the Reverend Laura Wyant and Reverend Dr. Steve Jolly. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

On December 21, 1930, he married the former Miss Dorothy Barker, who predeceased him on August 6, 1977.

He managed the Dibrell Farm near Ruffin for 62 years until his retirement. He was a member of Ruffin United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Jason Thomas Collie, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Elon, N.C.; a daughter, Joyce Lindberg and her husband, Sam Bright of Winston-Salem, N.C. ; one brother, Marvin Collie of Ringgold, Va.; one sister, Carolyn Baumgarner of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; four step- great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one step-great-great-grandchild; a special friend, Virginia Gay and special caregiver, Mary Lane.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruffin United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Cindy Wharton, 237 Worsham Mill Road, Ruffin, NC 27326 or to the American Cancer Society.
