Mr. Adams was a retired N & W Railway mechanic and inspector with fifty years service and a member of Melrose Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Georgia Walker Adams; one son, Richard Edward Adams, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Thornton, Roanoke; and Mrs. Mabel Martin, Salem; three grandchildren, Richard E. Adams, Jr; James Kirk Adams and Margaret S. Adams of Charlotte, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's North Chapel 1:00 PM Wednesday by the Rev. James V. DeFoe with interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Melrose Baptist Church building fund. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
