Bro. Lowell Thomas Parkey, 65 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, January 10th, 2008 at his residence.

Lowell was born in Ula, Kentucky on February 25th, 1942, son of the late Millard H. and Lillie Mae Taylor Parkey. He was a United States Navy veteran, a machinist and tool maker for eight plus years at C & V Machine Shop, and a minister. He has served as pastor at Popularville Baptist Church, Zion Baptist Church, and served as Adult Bible Class Teacher for 20 plus years at Piney Grove # 1. Lowell was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church # 1.

Lowell was survived by his wife, Wanda L. Phelps Parkey, whom he married August 8th, 1964 in White Lily, Kentucky; one son, Lowell Richard Parkey of Louisville, Kentucky; two daughters, Leda Diana Parkey of Somerset, Kentucky and Teresa Jo (and Benny) Daulton of Science Hill, Kentucky; two brothers, Edward Lee (and Fern) Parkey, ofBronston, Kentucky and (his twin brother) Howard J. (and Dale) Parkey of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Glenda Phelps of Somerset, Kentucky and Clara Jean Anderson of West Somerset, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Brian T. Rogers, Caila Renee Parkey, Sarah Elizabeth Parkey, Aylza Paige Parkey, Benjamin Shane Daulton, and Brandon Aaron Daulton; four great grandchildren, Celine Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Kylie Grace Rogers, and Trixie Birch; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Parkey and Lillie Mae Parkey; three brothers, Murrill Parkey, Glen Bray, and Vonice Bray; and two sisters, Christine Parkey, Vera Parkey.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14th, 2008 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro Doug Eggers & Bro Edward Bradley officiating.

Interment followed in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. With military honors held by the American Legion Post # 38 Honor Guard.
