John Janson was born on 19 Dec 1867 in Hogsbyn, Dalsland Sweden to Aron Johansson (b 1848) and Anna Stina Johannesdotter (b 1845).
John (Johan) came from Orasaken, Hogsbyn, (Mellerud) Dalsland, Sweden on a side-wheeler 31 May 1891. The ship ran into an iceberg and bent the shaft, they were delayed at sea for 4-6 weeks. He arrived in New York on the third or fourth of July and thought the Americans were crazy because of all the wild celebrations.
His son August indicated that John & two brothers (August & Carl) came together from Mellerud. His son Roger indicated he came alone and from Orasaken.
Carl had his name changed when he came to the U.S. to Jansson. He convinced his brothers August and John to change their names accordingly.
