John Henry Miller, formerly of Pleasant Hope, was born July 14, 1952, in Springfield and died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in Wichita, Kan., where he had lived since 1984. He died of complications following several heart attacks he had had over the last six months that were unknown to him or his family.
He was the youngest son of John Horace Miller and Georgia Marie Chapman of Pleasant Hope and graduated from Pleasant Hope High School in 1970 and Southwest Baptist College in 1974 with a degree in business administration and a minor in math.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 9 at the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hope.
He married Lanita Sconce, daughter of the Rev. Johny W. and Wandalea Sconce of Bolivar, in 1974 and a son, John Michael, was added to their family in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Along with his son, Michael, and ex-wife Lanita, he is survived by a brother, Chester Miller and his wife, Mary Ann, of Forsyth; a sister, Velma Stevens and her husband, Jim, of Branson; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Pleasant Hope Cemetery.
