Col. J. Walter Echols
It is with feelings of profound sorrow we announce the death of Col. J. Walter Echols of Macon county, which took place at his residence near Tuskegee on the 8th inst. Col . Echols was long in public life, having filled many positions of honor and responsibility, and was well and favorably known throughout the State. - He was a leading member of the lower House of the last General Assembly, and a vigilant and active guardian of the interests of the people. We knew him long, well and intimately. He was a cherished friend, whose name will be sacredly preserved among our most hallowed memories. Peace to his ashes!
