Mrs. Julia Katherine Banta, 66, died Thursday, April 8, 1943, at her home near Blackwell. She was born in the Franklinton community and became a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church at the age of 12 years.

Later in life she moved to the Blackwell community and became a faithful attendant of the Union Baptist Church, where she later moved her letter. She taught in the public schools of Henry County for many years. She was married to George L. Banta in 1899. Four children from this union survive: Mrs. Jessie Willhoite, Eminence, Mrs. Nellie Tingle, Pleasureville, Mrs. Golda Miller and Mr. Eugene Banta of Blackwell. She is also survived by a sister: Mrs. Nettie Willhoite, Blackwell; two brothers: Garfield Sutherland, Shelby County and Charles Sutherland, Blackwell. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at the Union Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m., Friday, with Rev. Neil Deblock, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the cemetery by the church.
