Cecil Hartness was born on June 18, 1954 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was the son of Doc and Lola (Taylor) Hartness. He grew up the youngest of six children with two sisters and three brothers: Joyce, Judy, Joe Bob, Roger Dale "Bodie", and Eddie Lee. Cecil graduated from Tahlequah High School. He worked for over 27 years at Spring Hollow Feeds. Cecil loved the great outdoors and there was nothing he enjoyed as much as nature. One of his favorite places to visit was Tucson, Arizona because he truly loved the desert.

You were in for a surprise when he pulled out that sense of humor and wowed you with a joke or an off the wall comment. Cecil was industrious, helping his father with the family farm, hauling hay for neighbors and even kept a very impressive vegetable garden. He was proud of his family, his friendships, and his Cherokee heritage. Cecil passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on April 7, 2023 at home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 68 years old. He will be missed greatly by those who loved him and knew him best.

Cecil is preceded in death by his grandparents, his brother Roger Dale "Bodie", his father, his mother and one brother-in-law, Floyd Dobbins.

Those left behind to celebrate his life include two brothers, Joe Bob Hartness of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Eddie Lee Hartess of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and two sisters, Joyce Dobbins of Porter, Oklahoma, and Judy Rogers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He leaves nieces and nephews he adored, Holly Rogers, Dyan Marrs, Timothy Dobbins, David Dobbins, and Mark Hartness as well as lifelong friends.

Funeral services for Cecil David Hartness will be conducted on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Gary Clinton officiating. His family will receive visitors prior to the services beginning at noon. He will be laid to rest at Blue Springs Cemetery in the Gideon Community next to his mother.
