Alta Cox Carroll

Alta Cox Carroll was born June 25 in La Verkin, Utah to Joseph & LaVern Thurston Cox. She was raised in Hurricane, Utah, with her three brothers and two sisters. Alta and her sisters worked the fields with their father because her brothers were serving in the military during World War ll. After High School, Alta married her sweetheart George William (Wiley) Carroll on Nov. 12, 1948. They were blessed with a daughter Georgia and a son Glen.
Alta exemplified honesty, hard work, kindness, love of family and service to the Lord. She worked at Ely Library for over twenty years. She served her church callings faithfully and in her retired years she moved to St. George to do many hours of temple work. She overcame many hardships.
Alta is survived by her three granddaughters, Kim Howard, Bonnie Smith and Brenda Lee Dennis, her only living sibling, Erva Cox Carpenter Huff, sister-in-law Colleen Cox, four great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Wiley, both children Georgia and Glen, her parents, brothers: Thurston, Mayhew, June, Myron, Sisters: Sarah and Mary Jane Cox Leany.
Graveside Services will be held at Ely Nevada Cemetery, 2000 Campton on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
