HALSTEAD -- A. J. "Moody" Armendariz, 76, tool and die supervisor at Cessna Aircraft, died Sunday (Jan. 10, 1999) at his residence.

He was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Halstead to Gavino and Esther (Triana) Armendariz. They preceded him in death.

He was a lifelong Halstead resident. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead and American Legion Post No. 2 and Elks Lodge, both of Newton. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II.

Survivors include: companion, Carol Koehn of the home; three sons, Ruben Armendariz of Wichita and Mike Armendariz and Greg Armendariz, both of Halstead; two daughters, Sandra Mendoza of Derby and Cindy Schmidt of Sedan, N.M.; one brother, Salvador Armendariz of Halstead; one sister, Carmen Armendariz of Halstead; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Marie; and two sisters, Esther Armendariz and Connie Hernandez.

Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Father James O'Shea officiating. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.

Memorials have been established with Central Homecare and Hospice or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
