Mrs. Caro Sabin, for many years a resident of Manchester, died at the Eastern Star home at Boone, Ia., Tuesday, April 25, 1939, at the age of 90 years. The remains were brought to Manchester and services held at the Brown funeral home on Thursday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. Thos P. Shaffer. Burial was made in the family lot by the side of her mother, Mrs. M. S. Van Duesen.
Caro Van Duesen, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Van Duesen, the former, a pioneer buttermaker at Spring Branch, east of Manchester, was born May 28, 1849. As a young woman she was married to Dennison G. Sabin, who died here Oct. 7, 1876. The couple were the parents of two children. Indie, who died in 1877 at the age of four and Tom who died in 1885 at the age of ten.
Mrs. Sabin, a widow for 60 years, was a tailoress for Wolfe Bros., early day clothing merchants here. For 42 years she was a member of the Orient chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and for 25 years was its secretary, never having missed a lodge meeting in that period of time.
