Mrs. Dorothy Faye Shirey Wilson age 81, of West Jefferson, NC and formally of Columbia, SC died on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Wilson was born on September 23, 1930 in Richland County, SC to Andrew and Thetus Bland Shirey. Mrs. Wilson was the wife of Berkeley B. Wilson also of Columbia and who preceded her in death. Mrs. Wilson was always thinking of others. Upon her retirement from the Citizens & Southern Bank, Mrs. Wilson spent many of her resources volunteering at the Providence Hospital and Meals on Wheels in Columbia. Mrs. Wilson's hobbies included crocheting, sewing and basket weaving. She used these skills to make items such as bears, pillows, blankets and scarfs to ease and comfort those at the Providence Hospital and continued this type of selfless giving at the assisted living facility she lived in. Mrs. Wilson is survived by: 2 Sons: Michael L. Wilson and wife Nancy & Charles A. Baker and wife Sheryl 1 Daughter: Donna Faye Baker Thiel and husband Kevin 1 Sister: Frances Geraldine Thompson 2 Step-daughters: V. Capers Johnston and husband Joe & Catherine B. Wilson 1 Step-son: Berkeley B. Wilson Jr. and wife Barbara Several grandchildren & great-grandchildren In lieu of memorial services, Dorothy would rather you take a fond memory of her and hold it in a special place in your heart.
