Obituary;

ADAMS -- The funeral for Isabelle Marie Halverson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, with the Rev. Shari A. Mason officiating. Interment will be in Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, Adams.

Mrs. Halverson, 85, of Adams, died Sunday (Sept. 24, 2006) at Adams Health Care Center.

Isabelle Marie (Wohlers) Halverson was the daughter of William Ernest A. Wohlers & Alma Melvena (Rebne) Wohlers born Sept. 21, 1921, in Austin. Isabelle Marie Wohlers married Maurice E. Halverson in Adams on January 29, 1950. A lifelong resident of Rose Creek, she owned and operated several businesses. She first owned a grocery store and later the Country Village Drapery Shop. She was a lifelong member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church, where she was active in WELCA and taught Sunday School. She also volunteered with the Red Cross; was a den mother for Cub Scouts; and was a chairwoman of the Mower County Republicans. She enjoyed sewing, family genealogy and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, John (Ellie) of Brandon, Miss.; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.

Isabelle Marie Wohlers was born in Adams, Minnesota, on September 21, 1921, to William and Alma (Rebne) Wohlers. She was baptized at Little Cedar Lutheran Church by Pastor O.C. Brenna and confirmed by Pastor Alfred Breivik.

At age 14, Isabelle was a member of the first girls group to go to Bible Camp from Little Cedar Church. They went to Lake Independence at Maple Plains, Minnesota. Other members who went were weekday school teacher, Miss Della Olson, Eunice Torgerson Huseby, Freida Amble Prescott, Muriel Sass Torgerson, and Lois Christianson Osmundson.

Isabelle went to Adams Public School and graduated in 1939. She worked at Wagners Department Store and then worked as a bookkeeper for six years at Marvins in Austin, MN

On January 29, 1950, she was married to Maurice Halverson at Little Cedar Lutheran Church by Pastor Luther Berven and then lived in Rose Creek, MN. To this union one son, John, was born on January 20, 1956.

Isabelle has always been very active both in church and community activities, WELCA, Circle, Legion Auxiliary, Rose Creek Literary Club, visiting, sewing, growing flowers, and Adams Health Care Auxiliary. She was in the Drapery Shop business for 25 years.

She enjoys traveling, especially visiting their son, John, Ellie, and three grandchildren who live in Brandon, Mississippi.

Isabelle's favorite hymn is "Jesus Loves Me" and her favorite bible verse if Matthew 7:12.
