Maple G. Adams, 97, of Hoopeston died at 12:30 a.m. Friday (Sept. 27, 2002) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Nursing Home.

Mrs. Adams was born May 6, 1905 in Pierce, Kentucky, a daughter of Andrew J. and Eliza Davenport Carter. She married Ray A. Barragree on May 15, 1928. He died March 4, 1938. She married Noble E. "Pop" Adams on Sept. 2, 1945 in Peru, Illinois. He died May 15, 1978.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Naomi Freeman; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Adams graduated from John Greer High School, Hoopeston. She worked at Hott's Lumber, Worthen's Clothing Store, Grab It Here and Central Illinois Public Service Company, Hoopeston. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Hoopeston, and its FH&C Sunday school class. She was a charter member of Business and Professional Women of Hoopeston and Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the TBH Club. She enjoyed cats and dogs, antiques and bowling.
