New Westminster, Jan. 24 -(Special.)- The men who have been dragging the river for several days past in the hope of recovering the body of Alexander Abbott, tinsmith, who was supposed to been drowned on Friday last, recovered the remained of the deceased with a large grappling hook under the Columbia Packing company's wharf today.
The funeral will be held on Monday to the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Sapperton.
The late Alexander Abbot was about fifty-eight years of age and a native of Edinburgh. He came to British Colombia in 1887, and was for a time in partnership in the plumbing business in Victoria with the late Alexander McCarthy. In 1899 he removed to New Westminster, and was employed by the firm of Cunningham Bros. for some time. In 1891 he received the appointment of plumber at the Provincial Hospital for the Insane in this city, which appointment he held until two years ago. since that time he has been employed by Messrs. W. J. Corbett & Company, tinsmiths. The deceased leaves a widow and four young children, the eldest of whom is nine years of age. The family reside on Ash Street.
