Mr. James Kenneth Potts

Mr. James Kenneth Potts, a resident of Newton, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was 92 years old.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 10, 2023, from Bethel Baptist Church in Newton with Mr. Earl Blocker and Mr. Bimbo Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Monday in the church from 12:30 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Potts was born January 21, 1931 in Dale County, Alabama to the late John Paul Potts and Addie Mae Davenport Potts. He graduated from Newton High School in 1949. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Kenneth married Sarah Frances "Sadie" Hughes on October 4, 1957 and they were married for 65 years. Kenneth worked with Hedstrom Incorporated for 40 years and farmed with his father. Mr. Potts built two chicken houses in 1978 and worked with Hayes Aircraft as a Safety Director. He was a life-long member of Bethel Baptist Church in Newton where he served as a Deacon. Kenneth also escorted over-size loads on the highway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Sarah Frances "Sadie" Hughes Potts.
