Joan Charlene (Myers) Melton
January 9, 1947 - March 4, 2022

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on March 4, 2022. Joan Charlene (Myers) Melton was born Jan 9, 1947 in Pittsburg, KS to Lonzo Charles Myers and Ellen Irene (Billionis) Myers.

She was united in marriage to her lifelong love, Gary DuWayne Melton on May 21, 1966 in Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2016.

Besides being an amazing mother and grandmother, she was a cosmetologist for many years finishing her career at Happy Hair Salon in Pittsburg. She then followed her passion for children by opening "You Gotta Luv-em Daycare" in her home where she took great pride in helping raise many children. She loved each of them dearly and considered all of them her grandchildren. Her health forced her to retire at which time she was overjoyed to spend time at home with her family. She was a strong, amazingly wonderful woman who fully enjoyed the simple things in life and will be greatly missed by everyone that was lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by a daughter, Stacy Hamblin (Murle) of Pittsburg, a son Steve Melton (Deni) of Frontenac, KS, eight grandchildren, Brett Hamblin (Kelsey), Brad Smith Hamblin (Karissa), Cody Hamblin (Bethany), McKayla Hamblin, Shadra Hamblin and a bonus granddaughter, Emilee Ulmer, all of Pittsburg, Seth Melton (Payton) of Cherokee, KS, Steven Melton of Topeka, KS, and Daci Elbrader of Frontenac, twelve great-grandchildren, a sister, Sandy Myers of Pittsburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was also met at heaven's door by a brother, Roy Myers, a nephew Chad Cunningham, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
