Charles P. Kielhorn, 72, of Arkansas City and Silverdale, died Monday (December 26, 2005) at his residence. A wake is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (December 29, 2005) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Charles Seiwert will officiate. Burial will follow in the Silverdale Cemetery.

Charlie was born January 1, 1933, in Kansas City to Earl and Jeanette (Stitt) Kielhorn. He was reared and educated in Cambridge, Kansas. He graduated from a military academy in Salina, Kansas in 1952, and later attended Southwestern College of Winfield. He taught school in the Lincoln, Kansas area then moved to Arkansas City where he drove a truck for Rodeo Meat Packing Company. He later owned and operated the ACW Truckline for many years and was also a rancher in the Silverdale area. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Charlie married Mary Jo Swanholt on December 18, 1952 in Long Beach, California. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1993. He later married Delores Rademacher-Pudden on June 2, 2001 in Arkansas City. He was a longtime youth league football, basketball coach and was a co-founder of the youth league baseball in Arkansas City. He was also instrumental in building many of the fields where today's participants play and practice.
He was a member of the Spencer-Ralston Post 1254 VFW, the Cattlemen's Association, and the Elk's Club.

Survivors include his wife Delores of the home; one son David and his wife Sheri of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters Kathy and her husband Chuck Hoops, Kelly and her husband Jerry Flauding all of Arkansas City; a brother John Kielhorn of Cambridge; seven step-children; eight grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Jo and a daughter Kristy Waugh.

A memorial has been established with Arkansas City Baseball Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
