Funeral service for John Jefferson Newman, 78, of Eunice was held Sunday from his home, with the Rev. Mr. Rogers officiating. Interment was in the Good Hope cemetery at Anacoco under the direction of Hargrove Funeral Home of Oakdale.
His survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Brinkley Newman of Eunice; four sons, J. D. Newman of Pensacola, Florida; Rev. A. S. Newman of Shreveport; Thomas W. Newman of Beeville, Texas; J. B. Newman of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Ella McElveen of West Columbia, Texas; and Mrs. Bula Young of Grant; three sisters, Mrs. Lida Oliphant of Azo, Arizona; Mrs. Mandy Oliphant of Elizabeth: and Mrs. Sally Vogel of Anacoco; 28 grandchildren.
