He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lloyd Russell Higgins; and all of his brothers.
Philip is survived by a daughter, Susie Garbin, of the State of New York; three sons, Gerry Lee Higgins, of Conway, Missouri, Philip Higgins, Jr., of the State of Indiana, and Derek Higgins, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dottie Grimes, of Lebanon, Missouri, Lois Grimes, of Stoutland, Missouri, Hazel Ross and Shirley Ross, both of Buffalo, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Decaturville community, and lived most of his life in the Lebanon area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army. Throughout his life he worked as a cook, an exterminator, and had driven a truck for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for several years.
Philip had attended the Trinity Full Gospel Church.
In his spare time he liked being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked reading Western novels and watching television.
Philip was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2005, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Plad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
