Anna Jane Herod was the daughter of Newton Starr Herod and Mary A. Murchison. She was the grandaughter of Joseph Josiah and Elizabeth Ann Allen Herod and William and Mary Wilson Murchison. Anna was born in Grapeland, Houston County, Texas, on June 20, 1874. About 1893 she married Cyrus Albynus Campbell, son of James Irish Campbell and Florence Margaret Hassell. Their children were:
