Steven Mark Wallace, 60, of Hope, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 19th, 2021. His long journey with Alzheimer's ended.

Steve was born on August 17,1961 to Paul Wayne and Betty (Wycoff) Wallace in Columbus, Indiana. As one of eight kids, he spent his childhood on the family farm and attended St. Peter's Lutheran school. He graduated from Hauser High School in 1980. While in high school, he participated in Hauser athletics and was active in FFA. During this time, Steve received his life-long nickname of "Burt" from his high school buddies. Steve married Jennifer (Jenny) Meier on November 30, 1985. In 1991, Steve and Jenny welcomed Micah Joy into the world and then in 1993, Justin Mark. Thus began Steve's most important job as "Dad".

In 1984, Steve began a 28 year career with Machinery Moving of Columbus. Here he got another nickname of "Hoss". He worked as a large machine operator and truck driver. Steve contributed his analytical mind, strong work ethic and brute strength to the company for 3 decades. In more recent years, Steve worked for Estes Materials and Hope Warehouse. In 2016, he retired and spent his time helping his daughter with her fixer-upper home, growing and selling produce, and playing golf at Wyloosing Golf Course. Steve also enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, raising livestock on the family farm, supporting Bartholomew County 4-H, and traveling with his kids throughout the Midwest attending pig shows.

In the recent months, Steve received outstanding care and support while living at Arbor Grove in Greensburg, Indiana.

Steve is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jenny; daughter, Micah (Aaron) Dillman; son, Justin Wallace; and grandson Wesley Dillman. He is also survived by his parents, Betty Wallace and Paul (Shirley) Wallace; siblings include Jeff (Pam) Wallace, Greg (Carolyn) Wallace, Mike (Tracey) Wallace, Eric (Susan) Wallace, Kim (Dave) Dillihay, Kevin Wallace and Tim Wallace.
