AURORA, CO. - Oakey Albert "Al" Kite Jr., 53, of Aurora, Co. and originally from Halifax County, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at home.
Mr. Kite grew up in Halifax and attended Weldon High School and Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. He was employed by Stone and Webster as an accountant for 31 years and by Carter-Douglas for the last 1 and a half years.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara Kite-Hanna and husband Earl of Lyndhurst, Va.; two nieces, Pamela Dawn Scott and Sonya Ann Scott of Virginia Beach, Va.; a special friend, Linda Angelopulos of Denver, Co.; and a step-daughter, Julie Kay Arrington of Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, at Halifax United Methodist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Stan Lewis. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the church Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to NC Victim's Assistance Fund or the American Cancer Society.
